Mission

To coordinate and monitor university education

The Department undertakes to:

1. facilitate efficient management of State Universities;
2. facilitate the recruitment of manpower, by State Universities, in critical shortage areas;
3. ensure effective communication between Government and all universities through interaction with Vice Chancellors, Students and Parents/Guardians;
4. negotiate and facilitate funding for new and existing State Universities;
5. superintend over quality education imparted by universities in close consultation with the Zimbabwe Council for Higher Education (ZIMCHE); and
6. mobilize resources for the provision of adequate and up to date training facilities for quality manpower output in higher education training institutions by 31 December of each
